Mid-year changes in your Health & Dental Benefits
Year-round Online Enrollment for Active Employees

Details on the State of Colorado Health Plan

Mid-Year Changes in your Health & Dental Benefits

Elections are irrevocable, except as specifically provided by law, regulations & plan documents.

Any eligible event that permits enrollment, modification, or termination of enrollment must be changed in the on-line benefits system, accompanied by supporting documentation within 31 days of the event. The effective date of the change is the first of the month following receipt of the documentation.

An example of this is when an employee needs to cancel spouse coverage due to spouse gaining qualified group coverage; you have 31 days to make the change in the online system BUT your coverage is not cancelled until the first of the month following the QUALIFYING EVENT DATE AND RECEIPT OF DOCUMENTATION. This means you will be paying for an extra months premium and have double coverage for the month.

How do I know if I have a qualified eligible event?

Year-round Online Enrollment for Active Employees Went Into Effect in 2005

What does this mean?

It means employee self-service. It means employees enter their life event changes that cause changes in their benefits directly into the Benefitsolver system. Once you make a change in online system, Human Resources will still need to approve the change and receive applicable documentation that allows for mid year changes.

How do I access the online system?

From the Benefits website, choose "Access Benefits System" on the right hand side of the screen under Hot Topics. After reading through the instructions access the enrollment system at the bottom of the page by clicking on click here.

You will need to access the system as you did during open enrollment or as new hires, using the user IDs and passwords they have created. First time users should still click on "Create My Account," and those who forget their password should click on "Reset My Password."

On the home page choose "Change My Benefits" under "My Benefits" on the left, in the blue bar.

Next, choose the event and enter the DATE OF THE EVENT, not today's date, as the system knows today's date.

The system will then guide you through the rest of the process. The final closing message will tell you what documentation must be submitted. Please remember to print a copy of your changes!
